Upcoming How to Argue Better Training

09 October 2018

Following the success of the How to Argue Better training programme delivered by the Healthy Relationships Partnership team in July this year, we are now taking bookings for further upcoming training courses!

While arguments are normal in families, when they are frequent, intense and unresolved, they can have a negative impact on children. A high proportion of practitioners working with families report relationship problems among those they help, but few receive any training in working with parental conflict.

How to Argue Better is a training course created by One Plus One, a national charity dedicated to helping people build stronger relationships and is delivered locally by the HRP team. The training is aimed at professionals working with families in Hartlepool and is designed to give workers a greater understanding of the impact of parental conflict the impact of conflict on children and teach them the skills to support parents to approach their disagreements in a more constructive way.

Our last event was attended by 16 professionals working with families in Hartlepool, including school staff, family support workers and youth workers. Learners were taught how to recognise signs of parental conflict and were given lots of practical tips and tools to pass onto families to help resolve issues. We’re really looking forward to seeing the difference the training makes to families and we received some very positive feedback from attendees…

“I thought it was a really strong course. It is simple to follow and really good practical tools to use in different types of relationships.”

“The tools are very relevant and I will use them when supporting families.”

Very well delivered – great participation exercises.”
